ZAMAMI ISLAND
Meet the Kerama Blue in
Zamami Island is the largest and most lively island in Zamami Village, with a population of around 600. Visitors come throughout the year—summer for marine activities, and winter for whale watching.
Well known among divers for many years, the island gained wider attention in 2014 when it became part of Keramashoto National Park. Its highlights include Furuzamami Beach, which received two stars in the Michelin Guide, and Ama Beach, where you can often see sea turtles. The island's natural beauty can also be enjoyed from observation decks or while camping.

An island where Okinawa’s beautiful nature and sea still remain. The clear Kerama Blue water, a night sky you won’t see anywhere else—this is a place to leave the busy daily life behind.
On the northern side, Nishibama Beach has a new observation deck that opened in July 2018. After snorkeling, you can take in the view and relax. That same year, the Sango Yuntaku-kan Visitor Center opened, with displays about coral reefs, marine life, and local traditions. If you are a little lucky, you might even spot a Kerama deer on the way there.

GERUMA ISLAND
Meet authenticity in
Geruma Island is the smallest inhabited island in Zamami Village, with just one hamlet and mostly untouched nature. With its rocky coastline and stretches of white sand, it feels like stepping onto private beaches. From the floating pier, you can look down into the clear water and see the sea bottom and fish swimming below.
In the middle of the hamlet is the Takara-ke residence, a building designated as a National Important Cultural Property. Once the home of a boat captain serving official vessels during the late Ryukyu Kingdom, it is built with red tiles unique to Okinawa and offers a glimpse into life from that time.
